It all started over 21 years ago with a pup named Emilia, who made so many friends in the neighborhood she had to have a birthday party....and cake. Since both Emilia and I were always gluten free, the adventure of experimenting in the kitchen with all sorts of flours and healthy ingredients began.

In 2007 we opened District Dog Boutique in Brooklyn, carrying the finest and healthiest of products and soon word began spreading that District Dog had fresh small batches of muffins, cupcakes and cookies. Realizing there was a big niche for the birthday category, we expanded the bakery in store with a full selection of cakes and accessories. Over the years in order to fulfill the growing demand, we tried working with different cake manufacturers, but we were constantly running into problems from slow fulfillment times to cakes hard as rocks.

In 2020, with the Covid pandemic, as pet owners stayed home, the Birthday category experienced a growth of over 81%. Unfortunately, as the demand grew, manufacturing times and quality of product from vendors suffered a big dip. Out of frustration, we decided to go back to our roots, once again making our own line of cakes & cupcakes. We could now have full control of quality and stock. Our cakes are moist, flavor full, made with wholesome ingredients. Although they look decadent they are sensitive to bellies. We are always wheat, sugar and preservative free.

We opened to wholesale in 2024, looking to partner with a selected group of stores that share our philosophy of health and fun. We love being a part of a dog's special day...because all dogs know it's their Birthday!
